Thats true, I see some newbies asking things, and when nobody answers, the leave WoS and never come back...
that wouldn't be the only reason. if a newbie leaves its because nobody paid attention to him/her or people were dicks or maybe the got bored, 96% of the time if a person goes somewhere and they find a friend its gonna give them a reason to come back so the /help or /language thing also has to be backed up with friendship, and hospitality.
Which is one thing i definitely promote, I'm all about keeping people here and getting them friends, if no one will be-friend them, than i become their friend. But your right, when people say stupid things such as 'fucking noob' or 'stupid noob /rules!' or something, they do leave. and they may or may not come back. Friendship IS indeed a powerful thing, even just a 'hello' or 'hi' should/would suffice for someone for the time being.
However on the other hand, most players want to DM because..its san andreas and people love killing(for some strange reason) and with that you should tell them that /deathmatch is what they want, or if they have something with someone, tell them to /challenge. That way they have fun, and meet a friend.
when you kill someone in deathmatch or in challenge your more than likely to make friends because that's an event that, strange enough, brings people together 'OMG that was fun!' 'Yeah your cool..you comin on later? i have to go now' etc etc. so friendships do in fact, build up. not to mention that there are some people who are scared of other players, or to talk. or are just Loners.
Now to take into consideration that not only do people make friends easily, but they also make enemies easily, and enemies have much more power than friends do, in certain cases. If you have a friend, and also a flamer on you, that flamer is going to hurt you. even if it is the internet words can hurt, and too the new player, they hurt deep. so they player leaves, or they correctly /report the flamer, or one of the Administrator's will deal with such problems.
Overall i think making friends is a much, much easier thing, and once you spend about a day or maybe even just an hour in deathmatch, you should make friends easily, and that persuades the players to play more.
