There will be an update in the near future that will merge all in-game accounts, into website accounts also.
You will be forced to login to your game account on the forums from then on, and they will act as if they were both the same account. For instance, changing your forum profile name, will result in changing your in-game name, changing your password for your forum account, will also change your game account. Get it? There's no more linking or anything, they're both the same account.
Also. You may be wondering, what about my forum account? My posts, my postcount, my rank and so on. Well don't worry about that, you'll be given the option when logging into your new forum account to merge an old account that you had on the forums. Ownership of any posts you made on that account will be moved to your new one, signatures, postcount, rank, everything will be merged together. All you'll need to do is enter your old details into a special page.
When will this happen? We don't know, in the near future. How will you know it happend? Well first and most obvious, you won't be able to login with your old forum details, you'll need to use your game details, an email will also be sent out to everyone, and a post made in this section.
How can I merge the old forum account? We'll provide a link to you.
So what are the plus sides of this?
Account managment is alot easier, you only have to deal with 1 global account and not balance between forums and games accounts etc, making it alot easier to understand. Also we'll be able to take advantage of the forum scripts built in features to show player stats etc, eliminating the need for alot of custom scripting and again more confusion for the end user. Even other small things like making donations automatic, so your account is instantly credited.
Bad sides?
Well not really any, except that you'll just have to take the small time out to merge your old account to keep all your old forum posts and stats. (Which is as simple as entering the old username and password into a box and clicking done)
