whoever plays a game for its looks, obviously doesnt play on WoS servers :P
my opinion is
why not make a game look better if you can? (this can be disagreed on)
Because then there's no memory on the disc left for gameplay. So it's just an interactive movie.

I have no problem with games looking as realistic as possible, but it depends on the game. For example, I think GTA games shouldn't have become realistic graphically, whereas a realistic appearance suits a game like Battlefield.

Anyways..... back on topic. DiRT 2 will be released on PC this December with DX 11 so we will see then what it really looks like in a game (assuming we all have Direct X 11 video cards to play with).

Oh, you meant programmers. Well whatever gets the job done I guess. Hopefully it doesn't turn out like when Crytek bought out Activision and they made a bad game (Modern Warfare 2).
