fps and lag are totally different
fps is how smooth your game runs
lag is determined by ping, which basically means the time your game sends information to the server (correct me if im wrong)

FPS is how many Frames are being processed per second. Most stuff on the TV is 25 FPS.
Lag is an internet term, but usually stands for your millisecond connection to the server, the time it takes for you to send and recieve packets which contain bytes of information each from the server in milliseconds.
