I've been using AVG since it came out to the net about 6 years ago or so. Never had to pay anything and they never asked that I do. But, as with any other shareware, you really should send them something if you plan on using it regularly.

Basically, works quietly and is a very low-resource, high quality antivirus program. Background updates that are very simple to configure to your tastes and needs.

It's a very popular antivirus program, but that's not why I choose to use it. It's just easy and works confidently. What more do you want?

Qutoed For Truth! avg kicks ass. the only time ive ever had viral problems with it, i was when i was stupid to let them in via dodgy torrents

Ok, pin me for being a noob, but, are you kidding?

I absolutely HATE reformating... ever...and i have had to do it wayyyyy too many times.

I'm just having a hard time getting my head around that. Sends a frickin' chill down my spine.

It doesn't run at startup, and I never run it unless I know I have a virus :P
No firewall running either, we have a home network (Media server, Backup server, Linux Ham station, Print0r) so it just fucks up >_<

Post by: Andre9977 on February 23, 2009, 07:35:42 am: I don't have any antivirus program. I will eventually get one when I'm infected with a harcore worm unless the worm has blocked IP/TCP traffic to antivirus sites and has fucked everything up heavily.

When a program's suspicious, I simply run it in VMWare and see what it does. I will also try to fuck the creator of it trying to crack up the connections the bot makes (IMO it is easy to check outgoing attempted connections through VMware to see if it sends data to any site/IRC server-channel).
