Title: Need help with PC hardware
Post by: McGurk on September 19, 2009, 11:16:03 am
I've been dying for a new computer for my room. Im currently using my family one which I can use pretty much when I want, But I like the comfort of my room, and wanting to play my ps3 at the same time. Anyway, what I am wanting is attachted. I have a case in mind from a different site than this so thats why its not there. The motherboard coems with a core duo and 2gb ram.

Also I will not be playing very big games like GTA:IV, mostly older ones like CS, GTA:SA(of course =D) and some other source games.

Also its £204.40 in total. Im I missing something or should I change other things?

Your Video Card only has DDR2 memory. Try finding one that is 512MB DDR3 if you can because quality over quantity when it comes to VRAM. Also that power supply is WAY too big for what you got try finding something around 500 watts, but make sure its a quality power supply with 2 12v rails  with at least 18 amps on each rail and not some cheap plastic crap box.

Getting both those things should save you money and give you better performance.

I recommend these if you are able to find them.

GIGABYTE GV-N95TD3-512I GeForce 9500 GT 512MB 128-bit GDDR3

APEVIA WIN-500XSPX 500W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply

GIGABYTE and APEVIA are two very reliable companies and they usually have well priced products.

This is an updated version. I have taken into account the advice from others on the server. The GFX is being bought from else where, a Sapphire ATi Radeon HD 4830 512MB GDDR3.

EDIT: Updated to include OS, Fan and DVI to VGA adapter. Im doign to use a old monitor until around feb 10

its turned out to be around £400 for 4gb ram, 512mb ddr3 GFX card, duo core 2.33ghz, windows 7 premium, 500gb HDD, 500w PSU and a cheap case. Is it worth it?

Lies. Stump knows exactly what he's talking about.
