Big Problem, help please!
« on: May 01, 2010, 03:53:48 pm »
Hi everyone, yesterday i was downloading a pack of music and i opened it with winrar. I left my computer and went to my friends house; but when i came back it was a mess of viruses. I cant open task manager, and everytime i click internet explorer it takes me to [pornosite] or [viagrasite] and i cant go anywhere else. I need to fix this because its on my laptop and thats where all of my itunes are. Btw, it keeps trying to  make me buy a product called "Antispyware soft". This virus made my computer completely inoperable, and even my internet, xfire, and msn messenger wont work.  So if anyone has any advice for this it would greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

Try booting into safe mode and doing system restore.
If this doesn't work I don't know what will other than reinstalling Windows

Hi Gage:

I hope that Brendons advice worked for you.

This virus seems very similar to malware and it's been roaming the internet for a couple of years now. Most especially to internet explorer users. A small pop-up appears saying that it's detected some spyware or w/e and "click here to clean it".  I was pissed the first time it happened to me. But google is your friend and malware is rampant so you should be alright if you know where to look?

Cheers,

Yah Avast is ok, but there are better ones than Avast now like AVG, MalwareBytes, and SuperAntiSpyware.(both are free of charge)
But Antiviruses don't really matter, getting a virus is 95% of the time the user's fault for downloading a dangerous file.  The best way to be protected from viruses is to use your head.
