Ban appeal
« on: April 18, 2011, 03:08:16 am »
In-Game Name: [JJT]PaTt
Age: 16
Admin That Banned You: JJT17
Reason Given By Admin: Advertising
Are You Sorry: No
Will you read and accept /rules?: Yes
Extra Info:

First of all, why the hell is advertising even a part of the rules? Considering you all clearly allow Youtube videos to be advertised? What difference does it make even depending on the site? While, although I do agree my actions of that day were unnecessary, I still strongly believe that this just a waste of a rule that you all just set up because you had nothing else to fill it up.

What profits will you lose from advertising? What honest difference does it make? How does it affect the server? How does it change it from what it is today? How the hell can you lose anyone or anything from it? How does it affect the scripting of the server? How does it affect you personally?

This is a wasted Rule and I am not sorry for it.

End of story.

Why be someone your not?

And they will claim you as the problem this is why you got banned

I didn't post any youtube link anywhere that got me banned, it was a different site. I don't care if i'm banned I just want a clear explanation of why this is even a rule when you allow certain sites to be advertised anyway.

Allow me, this rule has always been here.

What difference does it make even depending on the site?
There have always been supported sites, namely those that are purely informative or contain simple videos.

What profits will you lose from advertising?
Profit does not come into the equation when making rules.

What honest difference does it make?
Advertising reduces players. If people were allowed to freely advertise we would have less players.

How does it affect the server?
I'll use this question to elaborate on my answer to the previous question. Word of mouth from trusted sources is everything to many people. If regulars suddenly decided they didn't like the server anymore and started to join the server purely to say "This server sucks, come to server x at y.y.y.y instead!", people would follow them and leave the server, reducing our player-base. As players see regulars leaving, that would reduce the player-base even more. A reduced player-base results in new players not giving the server a chance as they view the community as dying. In this example, server is interchangeable with website.

How does it change it from what it is today?
The server will become less popular, possibly leading to it's death.

How the hell can you lose anyone or anything from it?
See above. Player-base.

How does it affect the scripting of the server?
It doesn't I don't understand the relevance of this question.

How does it affect you personally?
It's rude. To go onto a server/website people have spent so much of their time and effort on only to tell people to go somewhere else is incredibly rude. However, this is obviously not the main reason for the rule being there.

Any further questions?

To put it simply, the advertising rule ONLY APPLIES if it is used to take players from WoS to a 3rd party unsupported website or game server of any kind. Such as someone saying "COME TO (SERVERNAME) IP is 127.0.0.1!" or something like that. It is NOT advertising if someone just brings up a server like "Do you play on crazybob's?" that's just a question to ask someone if they used to play there, that there I don't see any advertising intent in that sentence.
Bottom line? It comes down to the admins, because we take situations individually. Me? I ban if someone intentionally advertises other servers on WoS with intent to take our players to other SA:MP servers, or if they post links to Pornographic material (We have many underage members here, despite the game being Rated M, although I'm sure you already know that.)

But I'm rolling with admino's old rules, not eXpie's so eXpie if you say differently, please let us all know.
